Emergence happens when systems, composed of interconnected components, stabilize into attractors, which are stable configurations in the system&#8217;s state space. Self-organization is described as the emergence of global order from local interactions, where components mutually adapt and coordinate themselves without external guidance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Self-organization is illustrated through examples like materials spontaneously magnetizing and dissipative structures, which are self-organized systems with ongoing flows of energy and materials. Francis Heylighen emphasizes that emergence and self-organization are simple and fundamental processes that lead to creative and unexpected outcomes in complex systems. He concludes that emergence through self-organization is a natural process observed everywhere in nature and society, without the need for mystical or supernatural explanations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Samia Erraji<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Francis Heylighen<\/strong>, born in 1960,&nbsp; is a Belgian researcher in artificial intelligence, philosophy, and social sciences. Heylighen is considered one of the leading researchers in the study of complex systems, self-improvement, and network science. He is a professor at the Free University of Brussels (Vrije Universiteit Brussel), where he directs the Center <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leo Apostle,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the associated research group <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Evolution, Complexity, and Cognition<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. He is also affiliated with the Department of History, Art, and Philosophy (HARP), where he teaches in the program on philosophy and ethics (FILO). He has long been an editor of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the Principia Cybernetica<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Project, an international organization for the collaborative development of an evolutionary-systematic philosophy. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Francis Heylighen is the author of several books including<i>&nbsp;The Evolution of Complexity: The Violet Book of `Einstein Meets Magritte&#8217; <\/i>(Springer, 2010).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">_________________________________<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La pr\u00e9sentation aborde les concepts d&#8217;\u00e9mergence et d&#8217;auto-organisation dans les syst\u00e8mes complexes.
