Through courses and associated activities, the Chair encourages students at UM6P to enrich their knowledge through transdisciplinary contributions, to enhance their autonomy in reflection and research, and to strengthen their ability to apply the knowledge they have acquired. Teaching and research activities consider the ongoing transformation in the vast disciplinary reconfigurations of knowledge: after the period of classical humanities and science, the modern times dominated by positivism and scientism, followed by the eras of social sciences and exact sciences, we now find ourselves in the century of new humanities and the sciences of matter, life, and computation. This era is characterized by complexity, non-linearity, and disequilibrium.<\/span><\/p>\n

The various activities of the Chair aim to generate a creative dialogue at the intersection of scientific, ecological, economic, social, and cultural engineering: scholars, artists, representatives of associations, entrepreneurs in the field of community living and interknowledge, peace advocates, human rights promoters, protectors of animals and nature, therapists, engineers, farmers, all those who, on a daily basis, as individuals or associations, act as pollinators of meaning at the neighborhood, village, regional, or national level.<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Introductory course to Complexity Sciences and Humanities <\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    This seminar consists of an introductory course to complexity sciences and humanities. This teaching covers the theoretical part designed to equip students to engage in empirical activities that stimulate their agency.<\/span><\/p>\n

    2. Complexities \u221e Humanities Research Lab<\/b><\/p>\n

    This laboratory aims to introduce students to action research and operational programs within the University ecosystem, its developing science city, and in its regional context, always in connection with global networks of teaching and research on these same topics. The concept of complexity is approached here in its multiplicity and diversity, hence the plural used.<\/span><\/p>\n

    3. Edge Dynamics Program: Cultural, Mental, and Behavioral Innovation.<\/b><\/p>\n

    The Chair’s mission is to enhance the human and social aspects of complexity through multidisciplinary approaches, critical thinking, and transversality. To achieve these objectives, we are launching the Edge Dynamics program. This initiative will raise awareness about cultural, mental, and behavioral dynamics, empowering students to tap into their full potential physically, psychologically, and socially. Working closely with administrators, educators, and researchers involved in cross-disciplinary student projects, our goal is to nurture not only intellect and skills but also empathy. We aspire to contribute to existing efforts and create new activities that highlight a unique emerging phenomenon known as the edge effect.<\/span><\/p>\n

    La Chaire propose des enseignements et une palette d\u2019activit\u00e9s associ\u00e9es susceptibles de permettre aux \u00e9tudiants de l\u2019UM6P d\u2019\u00e9toffer leur culture \u00e0 travers une approche transdisciplinaire, d\u2019\u00e9muler leur autonomie dans la r\u00e9flexion et la recherche, et enfin de renforcer leur facult\u00e9 de mise en acte des connaissances acquises. Les actitiv\u00e9s d\u2019enseignement et de recherche rendent compte du changement en cours dans l\u2019immense remembrement disciplinaire des savoirs : apr\u00e8s l\u2019\u00e8re des humanit\u00e9s et de la science classiques, les Temps modernes domin\u00e9s par le positivisme et l\u2019\u00e2ge scientiste, puis ceux des sciences sociales et des sciences exactes, nous voici dans l\u2019\u00e8re des nouvelles humanit\u00e9s et des sciences de la mati\u00e8re, du vivant et du calcul, \u00e8re marqu\u00e9e par le sceau de la complexit\u00e9, de la non-lin\u00e9arit\u00e9 et du non-\u00e9quilibre. <\/span><\/p>\n

    A travers ses diff\u00e9rentes activit\u00e9s, la Chaire oeuvre \u00e0 stimuler une conversation cr\u00e9atrice, au croisement des ing\u00e9nieries scientifique, \u00e9cologique, \u00e9conomique, sociale, culturelle : savants, artistes, repr\u00e9sentants associatifs, entrepreneurs de l\u2019\u00e9conomie du vivre-ensemble et de l\u2019entre-connaissance, artisans de la paix, promoteurs des droits humains, protecteurs des animaux et de la nature, th\u00e9rapeutes, ing\u00e9nieurs, agriculteurs, tous ceux qui au quotidien, en tant qu\u2019individus ou associations, \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle d\u2019un quartier, d\u2019un village ou de toute une r\u00e9gion ou une nation, sont des pollinisateurs du sens.<\/p>\n

    Ce s\u00e9minaire consiste en un cours introductif aux sciences de la complexit\u00e9 et aux humanit\u00e9s. Cet enseignement concerne la partie th\u00e9orique destin\u00e9e \u00e0 outiller les \u00e9tudiants en vue d\u2019entreprendre dans un second temps des activit\u00e9s empiriques stimulant leur puissance d\u2019agir (agency<\/em>).<\/p>\n

    \"\"2 – Laboratoire <\/b>de recherche Humanit\u00e9s \u221e Complexit\u00e9s<\/span><\/p>\n

    Ce laboratoire est destin\u00e9 \u00e0 initier des \u00e9tudiants \u00e0 la recherche-action et \u00e0 des programmes op\u00e9rationnels dans le cadre de l\u2019\u00e9cosyst\u00e8me de l\u2019Universit\u00e9, de sa cit\u00e9 des sciences en cours de construction, mais aussi dans son environnement r\u00e9gional, et toujours en lien avec les r\u00e9seaux mondiaux de l\u2019enseignement et de la recherche sur ces m\u00eames th\u00e9matiques. La notion de complexit\u00e9(s) est ici abord\u00e9e dans sa multiplicit\u00e9 et sa diversit\u00e9, d\u2019o\u00f9 le pluriel employ\u00e9.<\/p>\n

    La Chaire a pour mission d’am\u00e9liorer les aspects sp\u00e9cifiquement humains et sociaux de la complexit\u00e9 gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des approches multidisciplinaires, \u00e0 la pens\u00e9e critique et \u00e0 la transversalit\u00e9. Pour atteindre ces objectifs, nous lan\u00e7ons le programme Edge Dynamics. Cette initiative sensibilisera aux dynamiques culturelles, mentales et comportementales, offrant aux \u00e9tudiants l’opportunit\u00e9 de d\u00e9velopper pleinement leur potentiel physique, psychologique et social. En collaborant \u00e9troitement avec les administrateurs, les \u00e9ducateurs et les chercheurs engag\u00e9s dans des projets interdisciplinaires pour les \u00e9tudiants, notre but est de cultiver non seulement l’intellect et les comp\u00e9tences, mais \u00e9galement l’empathie.
